Abbreviations in Logistic
ATA - Actual Time of Arrival - Actual arrival time, defines the time when the vehicle (ship, plane, etc.) actually arrived at its destination.
ATD - Actual Time of Departure - The actual departure time determines the time when the vehicle (ship, plane, truck, etc.) actually left the place of departure.
AWB - Air Waybill - Waybill that accompanies goods. There are two types of it:1 HAWB (House Air Waybill) – home bill, initially has no number, but then gets it from a shipping agent. 2 MAWB (Master Air Waybill) – master air waybill has a number assigned by the airline.
BAF - Bunker Adjustment Factor - Additional fuel surcharge, usually charged by sea carriers as a percentage of the freight or as a flat surcharge for 1 TEU. This fee depends on the price of crude oil.
B/L - Bill of Lading - Bill of lading, a document accompanying the goods. It is used for ocean freight and multimodal ocean fright.
CAF - Currency Adjustment Factor - Additional fee that is charged as a surcharge or partial freight amount. Depends on currency fluctuations.
CFS - Container Freight Station - Freight container station, container point.
CMR - Convention relative au Contract de transport international de merchandises par route - International waybill for transport
CNEE - Consignee - Consignee displayed on transport documents.
CNOR - Consignor - The shipper shown on transport documents.
C/O - Certificate of Origin - A certificate of origin is a document used in international trade to determine the country of origin of a product. “Origin” means not the country from which the goods were delivered, but the country
COC - Carrier’s Owned Container -The container is the property of the carriers, the cost of using the container is included in the freight.
CSC - Carrier security charge - Fee for carrier security protection.
C.S.C -Container Service Charge -Fee for goods transportation from the quay to the carrier, and vice versa.
CY -Container Yard- Container Yard

DTHC- Destination terminal handling charges - Cargo handling in the port of destination

EX-1 - Export declaration - Export Declaration. The document provides information on all exported goods.

FEU - Forty foot equivalent Unit - 40-foot container. The term FEU has found much less spread compared to the similar term TEU (20-foot container).

FI/FO -Free in/Free out - Without goods loading / unloading in a port
HQ - High Cube - 40 –foot container High Cube. Has a larger capacity than a conventional container.
IATA - International Air Transport Association - The international Air Transport Association is an international non-governmental organization uniting national and international airlines, whose goal is to standardize service criteria for various components of air transportations.
IG - In Gauge - Goods delivery with help of special equipment – load does not oversize the dimensions of the platform .
INV - Commercial Invoice - An invoice issued by a seller and used to indicate the value of a product for various purposes.
L/C - Letter of Credit - The bank’s credit policy and payment security document, which is usually signed at the time of the conclusion of the contract.
LCL - Less than Container Load - Consolidated transportation – a few goods are together in one container.
LI/LO - Liner in/out - Goods loading and unloading of goods at the expense of the line
LO/LO - Lift on/Lift off - Lift on/Lift off
LT - Local Time - Local Time
MBL - Master B/L - The main bill of lading. It is issued by a shipping line.
MV - Mother Vessel - A large-tonnage liner vessel serving ports with a large cargo turnover and, as a rule, in accordance with a regular schedule.
N/N - Non-negotiable Document - Document, which does not give right to receive goods.
NVOCC - Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier - Broker who sells the place for ships loading, which does not belong to him.
OBL - Original B/L - Original bill of Lading
OOG - Out of Gauge -The term that is used for delivery using special equipment, such as Flat Racks, platforms, Open Top containers, etc., and means that the dimensions of the transported cargo exceed any of the dimensions provided for goods when transported by this equipment (height, width, length).
OT - Open Top - Container without hardtop
PACK - Packing List - The term that is used for delivery using special equipment, such as Flat Racks, platforms, Open Top containers, etc., and means that the dimensions of the transported cargo exceed any of the dimensions provided for goods when transported by this equipment (height, width, length).

THC - Terminal Handling Charge - Port handling fee – the fee charged by the port terminal for the transfer of a container from the berth to the carrier and vice versa.
TLC - Three-Letter-Code - Three- Letter-Code of an airport
T/S - Transshipment - Transshipment is used, for example, if a ship cannot enter the port of destination, in this case the cargo is unloaded at an intermediate port, then reloaded onto special feeder lines and with their help is already delivered to the port of destination.
T/T - Transit Time - Transit Time
T-1- Transit declaration- Transit declaration
ULD - Unit Load Device - Containers, pallets, modules for luggage loading on a plane.
WHS - War Risk Surcharge- Freight surcharge. It takes into account the risk of vessel loss and cargo loss due to military actions.
